Summary of the Position:
Gazelle Finance is a global investment manager (“Gazelle”) that manages institutional capital from the leading American and European development finance institutions, including OPIC (DFC) and FMO and invests in high growth companies in the Eurasia region. Gazelle is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead a new business line for the company. This new business line will use its innovative growth capital investment products combined with concessional funding to support and invest in Ukrainian companies, many of which will be in the IT sector that are dislocated by the war and need to either relocate to a neighboring country or operate virtually until their employees can safely return to Ukraine. Gazelle Finance invests in Eastern Partnership countries, with operations in Tbilisi, Yerevan, and Kyiv. The expectation is that Tbilisi will serve as the base of operations for this new initiative, though depending on geopolitical conditions, frequent and extended travel to Ukraine is anticipated.
The Performance evaluation criteria will be primarily based on timely execution of the new business line’s business plan, implementation of the new business line’s operations and systems, the pace and quality of new business development execution including the origination of at least three investments with the support of a Kyiv-based CIO, maximization of development impact and financial returns to the investors and donors, and the demonstrated ability to be a value-add member of Gazelle’s team and culture. Gazelle is a global company and is seeking individuals who can operate in a native English language speaking environment and can work according to western management principles. This position requires advanced English language skills, some entrepreneurial spirit, very strong interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical skills including the ability to work effectively using Microsoft Excel for budgeting and financial modeling purposes, with preference given to those individuals who have some professional track record in the finance industry. This position reports to the CIO of Ukraine with dotted line reporting to the Head of ESG and Sustainable Investments.
